He offers a no hassle service, in that he makes very few demands on your time. He has done over 500 weddings and events and is prepared for the best and worst case scenarios.
Reuben shows up, prepared and ready to play. There is no need to worry about making him comfortable, having food or drink on hand, placing a stage or umbrella for his sun protection, having someone to fan him or hand feed him with a silver spoon or give him shoulder rubs before and after each song... (well... maybe if you really want too.) In fact he doesn't want you to worry about any number of special considerations other harpists or instrumentalists require to have them play at your event.
You show up to enjoy your wedding, and leave the harping to Reuben. He's there to serve your needs not the other way around.

1. THE BASIC WEDDING DESCRIPTION

A complete wedding ceremony costs $325.00 this is Reuben's minimum and that includes:
fREE HARP DELIVERY, within 20 miles of his office set-up, and tuning,
THE PRELUDE, seating of the guests,
THE CEREMONY, service music such as solos for vows, rings, unity candle, etc.
THE RECESSIONAL, releasing the bride, groom, and wedding party from the ceremony.
THE POSTLUDE. releasing the guests from the ceremony site
FREE CONSULTATION to choose the music for your special day. This is usually accomplished 3 - 6 months to prior to the ceremony depending on when you book him. (For last minute weddings, meaning a week or two prior to, or the day of, Reuben will direct you to his web site to choose your selections.)

Reuben generally arrives 30 minutes to 45 min. before the ceremony in case there are any changes to the program and to make sure the harp is ready. (generally Reuben figures this to be a two hour time committment by the clock from the time he arrives).

The complete ceremony includes prelude, processional(s) service music, recessional, and postlude. Also includes 20 miles from my office for free and a free consultation to choose the music for your wedding.

3. PARTS OF A WEDDING - DEFINITIONS AND REPERTOIRE CHOICES

Here are some definitions and explanations and repertoire (song list) of the different parts of a wedding ceremony and what kind participation you can expect of Reuben.

Wedding Ceremony consists of various elements:

A. PRELUDE:
This is music that is played before the ceremony. It is used to seat the guests, place the aisle runner, and light the candles.
One or two special pieces right before the actual ceremony begins may be dedicated to bringing special people up the aisle. Like grandparents or mothers for a special part of the pre - wedding activities such as lighting the two candles next to the unity candle.
This music is usually light and soft harp solos meant to calm the spirits and reduce stress prior to the ceremony.
Reuben usually arrives 45 minutes - 1 hour before the ceremony to tune, warm up, and confer with the coordinator about any change in plans. He generally begins playing the prelude 15 - 20 minutes prior to the ceremony or when three guests are seated.

1. WEDDING PARTY PROCESSIONAL:

In an American wedding this music sends the bridesmaids, jr. bridesmaids flower girl(s). ring bearer, groomsmen and pastor, chaplain, or officiant into the ceremony room before the bride. Therefore there is often a different piece that is repeated until all participants in this party are in the room.

These titles are often interchangeable with Bridal processional music though they are often played much more quietly or gently.

Many weddings have prayers and readings of poems or famous quotes. you can have music played lightly as the prayer/reading is occuring and before and after as they are walking up to the podium or stage and back to their seat.

E. VOWS / RINGS
you can have a special song of meaning played between, before or after the vows and rings. Often contemporary songs are played here or if you have another musician or vocalist they can sing a meaningful song at this point also.

K. POSTLUDE:

Bright happy music is played for the postlude that is not as loud as the recessional. Reuben will play until the last row of guests is about to join the Receiving line unless you have hired him to play extra music for the punch, social hour or dinner / reception music.
Then he will leave a little early to get re- set up in the new location.

ADDITIONAL HOURS:
This is time that is up to an hour or fraction of an hour more that is not booked when the contract is signed and deposit sent. You may have this extra time and pay for it at the event if Reuben is available.
Additional Hours usually occur the day or night of the event when the hiring party realizes they would like, or need more of Reuben's time at the harp.

Reuben Correa is a 1989 graduate of Bethel University in Arden Hills, MN., with a B.A. in music. He presently resides in Minneapolis, MN with his wife Carol and son Trevor.

EDUCATION

Reuben began his study of the concert (pedal) harp at Bethel College . During his junior year however, he was introduced to the folk (Celtic) harp and decided to build his own. It is finished to resemble a harp from the about Renaissance period.

Mr. Correa now performs on a harp built to his specifications by Steen Harps of W. Virginia. The harp builder Stephen Green combined Celtic and Gothic styles to create a new 36 string (5 octave) design in bird's eye maple with a spruce sounding board. The new harp has joined an elegant shape with a exquisitely beautiful bright and delicate voice which not only carries quite well in large spaces and out of doors but fully fills the space.

Reuben plays a variety of music ranging from renaissance, light classics, traditional hymns to contemporary sacred music., ethnic themes, very light jazz and folk tunes in an inspirational uplifting healing style. His intent is to bring the music of this ancient instrument into the 20th century where a wider range of listeners can relate to the music without obscuring its ancient origins. Reuben’s heart lies in using his music for peaceful healing purposes

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PERFORMANCE HISTORY

2005 a local Children's Hospital has decided to place a copy of Reuben Correa's CD Sea Whisperings into each patient room.

2004 November & December: Musical Entertainment for the passengers at the Lindberg International Airport in Minneapolis, MN

2005 - 8 years of performing artistic and Peaceful Healing music in over twenty three units in a local hospital for Children

2002 - 10 years Performance of Peaceful Healing music at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Hospice. St. Paul, MN

2002 - Aurora Borealis Harp Fest Workshops and Master classes, organized, presented and developed curriculum, for performance and medicinal music. Anchorage, Alaska

2002 - Opening Concert and World Premier of Shimmering Dancing Lights a piece Reuben Correa composed
for multiple harps for the University of Alaska, Anchorage Celtic Festival.
On this occasion 16 harpers were on stage. 7 of them were children.

2001 - 100th Anniversary Celebration for the Dominican Sisters of healing for those with incurable disease –

1996 - 1999 Minnesota Orch. Sommerfest, Market Platz stage, Minneapolis, MN

1993 Top 5 finalist in the world in Dinan, Brittany - France, Composition division of the Internationales Recontres De Harpe Celtique, ( The world's only competition for new music created soley for the Celtic Harp) His entry, was a tone poem: Oceana which included special techniques he developed on his own.
