The Ash Grove is another one of those ancient celtic tunes that the celtic nations continue to argue that it originated with them. At this time in my research I believe that this one belongs to the British Isles.
I have used the technique called "xylophonic plucking" to introduce this melody. Then I let it flow throughout the harp. It is such a sweet happy sounding melody and babies seem to respond to it well.
I have heard that sometimes when parents want to be able to talk on the phone without interruption from the little ones, they put on this Our Beautiful Baby cd. It seems to calm them down and helps them to focus on their play time without fear of being ignored or needing to always to show off for mommy or daddy.
